Turning Ideas Into Reality: My Creative Funding Game Plan

Introduction

Over the years, I’ve created a handful of stories I truly believe in—some fully fleshed out, some still forming, but all rich with potential. These projects span TV series, comic books, video games, and feature-length films. Right now, they all live on the page—written, developed, and waiting. I’ve reached the point where I’m ready to bring these projects to life—and to do that, I’ve launched a new venture centered around streaming and content creation to raise the funding needed to move them forward.

This blog is about what I plan to do with that funding—and more importantly, how I’m structuring it to move in small, strategic steps. Every dollar raised is a milestone that gets me one step closer to production. Here’s the path I’m taking, one practical step at a time.

Concept Art Creation

The first thing I’m doing is commissioning concept art from illustrators. These visuals will help capture the unique energy and identity of each project. I want people to see the worlds I’m building, not just read about them. Concept art makes these ideas tangible—it’s the first way I can show the style, tone, and worldbuilding of each story. It also gives me strong visual assets to use when promoting the projects or pitching to potential collaborators and investors.

Script Coverage and Grading

Once I have visuals in place, the next step is refining the scripts. I’ll be paying for professional script coverage—getting feedback from seasoned industry readers who can point out what’s working and what isn’t. Their critiques help me elevate each project so it’s not just creative, but competitive. A strong script is key to getting people to take your vision seriously, and this step ensures my stories are clear, compelling, and ready for the next stage.

Industry Submissions

After polishing the scripts, I’ll begin submitting them to platforms like The Black List and Option Avenue—tools that help get stories in front of producers, managers, and investors. These platforms have a track record of helping writers make real industry connections, and they provide a professional space where great ideas can be discovered. The goal here is to put my best work in the right rooms.

Financial Analysis for Business Plans

To be truly pitch-ready, I also need to back my projects with data. That’s why I’m setting aside funds to have financial analysis performed—market potential, estimated ROI, timelines, and other critical information investors care about. These numbers will be included in the business plans I’m creating myself, and they’ll serve as a bridge between creativity and business strategy. If someone shows interest in a project, I want to be ready with answers.

Comic Page Development

As momentum builds, I’ll commission illustrators to begin developing comic panels and pages from select stories. These won’t just be visuals—they’ll be narrative previews that give people a real taste of the storytelling and visual direction. These early pages can be used in teaser issues, pitch materials, or even for limited publishing. It’s a step that helps prove the creative vision works on the page and can stand as a product on its own.

Marketing and Promotion

Promotion is essential to building awareness, and I’ll eventually put some funding toward growing my presence on platforms like YouTube and Twitch. I’m already starting to document the journey on those channels, and funding will allow me to do it more consistently and with better quality. Sharing the process—wins, setbacks, and all—helps build transparency and trust. It also gives the audience a chance to grow with the projects from day one.

Legal Guidance for IP and Contracts

Once there’s traction, I’ll bring in legal consultants to help with the basics—ensuring contracts, rights, and IP ownership are airtight. As these projects begin taking shape beyond development, I want to make sure I’m protected and everything is handled correctly from the start. This step is about long-term security—for both myself and future collaborators.

Freelance Publicist for Targeted Buzz

At a later stage, I’ll hire a freelance publicist to help build buzz around each project. The right publicist can get the stories in front of media outlets, niche blogs, and industry voices who can amplify the work and draw the attention of decision-makers. This kind of targeted outreach makes all the difference in getting these projects out of the echo chamber and into the spotlight.

The Journey Ahead

This roadmap isn’t just a funding strategy—it’s a step-by-step commitment to seeing these stories through. Every dollar raised helps move the needle, turning ideas into something real, something shareable, something impactful. If you’re curious about what it really takes to bring original stories to life, or want to see how creative projects evolve from the ground up, this is your window into that process. Whether it’s through sharing, supporting, or simply following along, every bit of engagement helps these projects move closer to reality. Let’s build something great—one milestone at a time.
